Between April 8 and 11, Rio de Janeiro will host the 12th edition of the UTCAL Summit 2025 — the largest event in the utilities sector in Latin America. This year, public representatives and professionals from companies around the world will focus their discussions on the theme "Telecommunications and Automation Technologies for Utilities".
Members of public service concessionaires, regulators, research centers, entrepreneurs, suppliers and national and international experts will be gathered at the Windsor Barra Hotel.
Utilities are the companies responsible for essential services such as water supply, gas and electricity and telecommunications. During the four days of the event, there will be an intense exchange of experiences and numerous debates on various aspects involving telecommunications and automation technologies for this sector. The interactions will take place in workshops, lectures, debate panels and case presentations.
One of the highlights this year will be the assessment of the use of artificial intelligence in utilities, a global trend. Although many applications are already being experimented with, the adoption of new tools by companies in the sector has been happening gradually, with great care.
"Both the introduction of new technologies and the updating of systems and equipment already implemented will be topics addressed by experts at the UTCAL Summit". The topic of the moment is Artificial Intelligence, but Smart Grids, Measurement, Spectrum, Satellites, Digital Transformation, Automation, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity and many others will have a strong presence in the 6 auditoriums and in the exhibition area."explains Dymitr Wajsman, president of UTCAL.
In its 12th edition, the UTCAL Summit has established itself among the players in the segment. Since it was created, the event has already been attended by more than six thousand participants, 140 companies and 50 government representatives. I brought to Rio de Janeiro specialists from more than 20 countries, making the city the main hub for utilities discussion in Latin America.
The opening of the event will feature the participation of the president of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), Carlos Baigorri; two directors of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), Fernando Mosna and Ricardo Tili; public sector chief at Cisco in Brazil, Paulo Osterkamp; executive assessor of the IT Board, Regulatory and Relationship Services of the National Electric System Operator (ONS), Carlos Alexandre Prado; the executive manager of Eletrobras and former president of the Board of Directors of UTCAL, Rodrigo Leal; and the executive IT manager of TAESA and president of the Board of Directors of UTCAL, Allyson Gomes.
The president of the Utilities Technology Council (UTC) is already confirmed at the meeting, Rusty Williams; the president of the European Utilities Technology Council (EUTC), Andreas Breuer; the technical manager of the European Utilities Technology Council (EUTC), Adrian Grilli; the vice president of Policies and Legal Counsel of the Utilities Technology Council (UTC), Brett Kilbourne; and the Executive Director of the 450MHz Alliance, Gosta Kallner.
