55% of fans rate betting sites in football positively, points to research

Online sports betting has gained more and more space in Brazil and is already part of the routine of many fans. The research "Football Teams and Betting Sites", carried out by Brazil Panels in partnership with InfoMoney and TM20 Branding, analyzed the relationship of fans with betting and the impacts of this new form of entertainment on sports. The study revealed that 55% of respondents view betting houses positively, considering them "good" (35%) or "very good" (20%).

On the other hand, 40% of participants said they do not consider these sites safe. This perception may be related to the stages of regulation in the sector, widely reported in the media, including the deadlines for regularization and the list of platforms authorized by the government. Furthermore, cases of illegal sites that hinder the recovery of acquired funds or do not complete transactions may have contributed to this insecurity on the part of the fans.

The data indicates that 69% of bettors use the platforms mainly for fun (46%) and entertainment (23%). However, almost three in ten gamblers (27%) say they do it as a form of investment. No age cut-off, 38% of bettors aged 18 to 24 claim to bet on bets for this purpose.

The perception of betting also varies according to the fan's experience. Among those who rate the bets as "good" or "very good", 51% indicate that betting increases the excitement of the games, making the experience more engaging and fun. On the other hand, concern about financial losses is a relevant factor: 53% of those who consider bets regular and 61% of those who classify them as bad or very bad point to the risk of losing control over spending as a problem.

"Sports betting has brought a new dimension to football", making the games even more exciting for the fans. However, it is essential that there is greater clarification about the risks involved, especially among the younger ones, that often see bets as an opportunity for financial gain, claims Claudio Vasques from Brazil Panels.

The research also revealed that 29% of fans who evaluate bets negatively fear that they may lead to match-fixing, compromising the integrity of the sport. Furthermore, the study identified that advertising plays a fundamental role in the popularization of bets, since all the clubs in the Série A of the 2025 Brazilian Championship have sponsorship from betting sites, since 90% of these partnerships are master sponsorships.

In the ranking of the most well-known brands among fans, Betano leads with 12% of the mentions, followed by Sportingbet (7%), National Bet (5%), Lucky Sports and Bet365 (4% each), and Superbet (3%). In the item "brand strength", that considers attributes such as trust, preference and recommendation, Betano also stands out, alcançando um score de 97/100.
